Buying finishing equipment from a U.S. manufacturer should not mean managing an import you have never handled before. We build the system, crate it for the road, arrange the freight, and hand your customs broker a clean set of documents at the border. You get one point of contact from the first drawing to the day it lands.

Mexican buyers work with the same engineering team, the same designs, and the same technical support as our customers in the States. What changes is the paperwork and the electrical service, and both of those are settled before anything is built.

Engineered for Mexican requirements

Our systems are ETL Listed by Intertek and engineered to NFPA 33 and NFPA 86, and every project ships with engineered drawings, airflow and ventilation calculations, and electrical documentation.

In Mexico the electrical work is judged against NOM-001-SEDE-2022, the installations standard published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación in March 2023 that replaced the 2012 edition. Article 516 covers spray application, dipping, and coating with flammable and combustible materials, and Articles 500 through 506 classify the hazardous areas around the equipment. We design the booth, its classified zones, and its controls to those articles.

Workplace safety sits with the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social. The norms that touch a finishing operation are NOM-002-STPS-2010 on fire prevention and protection, NOM-005-STPS-1998 on handling and storing hazardous chemicals, NOM-010-STPS-2014 on airborne chemical agents, and NOM-018-STPS-2015 on hazard communication under GHS. Ventilation performance, solvent storage, and signage are all read against them.

Air permitting depends on where your plant falls. SEMARNAT licenses fixed sources in the federally regulated sectors, which include paints and inks and the automotive industry, while smaller shops are licensed by the state. Indirect-fired combustion equipment rated above 530 megajoules per hour also falls under NOM-085-SEMARNAT-2011, so whether that norm reaches your heater or cure oven depends on whether it is direct or indirect fired and on its rated input.

Power is the practical one. Mexico runs at 60 Hz, the same as the United States, so nothing has to be re-engineered for frequency. Utilization voltages differ, commonly 220/127 V and 440/254 V three phase. Send us the voltage and phase at your plant and we build the motors, starters, and control panel around it.

NOM certification requirements are determined project by project, and your authority having jurisdiction makes the final call on the finished installation. Tell us your state and the authority you report to before you order, and we will confirm in writing which certification route and which documents your project needs.

Do you really deliver to Mexico?

Yes. We build every system at our plant in Apple Valley, California and ship it south to customers in Mexico. Tell us your delivery address when you request a quote and we will price the equipment and the freight together.

Who handles customs and duties?

Your agente aduanal clears the shipment and files the pedimento. Unless your quote says otherwise you are the importer of record, which means you need to be listed in the Padrón de Importadores. IVA is assessed on import at the general rate, currently 16 percent, calculated on the customs value plus duty and the customs processing fee. Equipment that qualifies as U.S. origin under T-MEC can enter free of the general import duty when a certification of origin travels with it, and we supply the commercial invoice, packing list, and origin details your broker needs.

Do you hold a NOM certification?

Our systems are ETL Listed by Intertek and engineered to NFPA 33 and NFPA 86. What a given project needs on the Mexican side depends on the equipment and how it is imported, so we confirm the certification route in writing with you and your customs broker before anything is built rather than promising a mark that may not be the right one for your installation.

Will the booth meet Mexican code and pass inspection?

We design to NOM-001-SEDE-2022, including Article 516 for spray application and coating and the hazardous area classification in Articles 500 through 506, and the workplace standards from the STPS govern how the equipment is operated once it is in. Your authority having jurisdiction still makes the final determination, so tell us your state and the authority you report to before you order and we will confirm the documentation in writing.

What voltage will it be built for?

Whatever you have. Mexico runs at 60 Hz, the same frequency as the United States, so the equipment does not need re-engineering for that. How long does an order take?

Build time is typically 6 to 16 weeks depending on the product and scope, plus transit and customs clearance. We confirm your exact timeline with the quote.

Can you install it, or do we?

Either way works. Many customers install with their own contractor using our drawings, documentation, and remote support from our technical team. Ask about on-site installation and we will scope it with your quote.

What currency will the quote be in?

Tell us your preference when you send the project details and we will confirm currency, payment terms, and delivery terms in writing before anything is built.

Is the system custom, or off the shelf?

Custom. Every booth, oven, and heater is engineered around what you finish, the space you have, and the power available at your building. If you can spec it, we build it.
